LANUSA MUSIC
The name “Lanusa” was created and gifted by Jessica Logan in 2003, and was promptly adopted as the title of this solo music project. Lanusa’s alternative folk songs are heavily influenced by soul and jazz, garnering atypical rhythms and solid backbeat, and their lyrical philosophizing rewards close listening. Lanusa has been performing original music since 2003 primarily in Nashville, North Carolina, and New York, plus two self-produced national tours in 2010 and 2015. Lanusa’s third record, ‘Skeletons as Leavers’ was co-produced with Myles Rodenhouse at Douglass Street Records and was released September 1st, 2015.
“…haunting, musically sophisticated, and beautiful album ‘Skeletons as Leavers’ …compiles a darkness that is lifted through rhythmic guitar, percussion, and beautiful harmonies with the sense of moving forward after a dark time in one’s life. Starting off with the chilling single “Sea to Seek”, Lanusa shows us that she has Ani DiFranco vocality, Lianne La Havas acoustic soul, and an authentic music maturity that is rare to find in the industry these days…Overall, ‘Skeletons as Leavers’ is a wonderfully mastered production from artist, engineer, and every collaborator alike.” – Skull and Bones Blog
“Large audiences with short attention spans are often wary of complex chord changes and atypical tunings. But, resting smoothly and simply atop the guitar, Lanusa’s voice consummates the essence of songwriting, manifesting melodies as pure as air and as addictive as wine, enticing the palette well after the conclusion. And her lyrics, born of a certain philosophical inertia… hit home with resonating pungency… Catch her while she’s affordable. If there happens to be a cover, it’s worth every penny.”- Budding Review
“We love the voice of Siren that is Lanusa. Hailing from Nashville, this Brooklyn-based artist will grip your heart with her soulful voice on the acoustic, soothing yet powerful tracks. ” – M4: Earphones for Musicians
